OUR RESINS

Interplastic Corporation has more than 40 years of experience with the polyesters and vinyl esters used in cured-in-place pipe applications. Polyester resins are available either filled or unfilled. These resins are the most commonly used resins in municipal sewer or storm water line applications. The chemical resistance of this type of resin is adequate for those environments. Flexural creep of these resin systems is also acceptable for these environments.

WHAT DOES THE RESIN CONTRIBUTE IN THE CIPP PROCESS?

  • • Modulus
  • • Strength
  • • Corrossion resistance
  • • Mass

POLYESTER CIPP RESINS

FILLED VS. UNFILLED

Filled polyester resins
  • • Exceptionally Higher Modulus Properties
  • • Eliminates "slugging" in Service Connections
  • • More Resistant to Stress Cracking
  • • Lower Shrink
  • • Lower Exotherm
  • • Better Heat Retention in Laminate during Cure
  • • Lower Cost per Pound
Unfilled polyester resins
  • • Higher Strength Properties
  • • Less Resin Cost per Linear Foot of Liner
  • • Faster Liner Wet Out in most Cases
BENEFITS OF POLYESTER RESINS
  • • Most economic system
  • • Enhanced resins provide high flexural modulus liners
  • • Ease in processing
  • • Great chemical resistance
  • • Long resin pot life

VINYL ESTER CIPP RESINS

Vinyl ester resins are used in municipal applications that may use more aggressive additives in their sewer systems. Vinyl ester resins are also used in pressure and force main applications because of their resilience and fatigue resistance.Vinyl ester resins are also used in many industrial applications where more corrosive environments may be found or where service temperatures are higher. There are several grades of vinyl ester resins available for different environments and service temperatures.

BENEFITS OF VINYL ESTER RESINS
  • • Excellent chemical resistance
  • • Many product varieties available
  • • Ease in processing
  • • Excellent fatigue resistance
  • • Great for elevated temperature applications
